Peace, Rhododendron

Indie Publisher and Local Author Celebrates Release of New Poetry Collection

Mind Harvest Press is thrilled to present Peace, Rhododendron, the first collection of poetry by Elizabeth Leverton. A Columba, SC, all-around artist, Leverton paints (that’s her work on the cover), she writes, she edits, she’s a graphic designer. All of us here at the press—and that’s me, editor and publisher James D. McCallister—could not be happier that Liz submitted her work, the first we’ve been moved to print in over a year and a half.

Furthermore, the author was a gem to work with—from editing to the design and now promotional stage, she has been an ideal creative partner for a small press such as this one.

And if this all sounds like a lot of PR happy talk, it both is and isn’t: Liz and I may have been prior collaborators on projects, yes, and our friendship outside of that work goes deep, but as I read through her manuscript, poem after poem leapt off the page and seemed to have something exciting to say. The rubber stamp—APPROVED FOR PUBLICATION in blazing red ink—appeared in my hand.

As we are rather happy with our work here, Liz and I would like to invite you all to a coming-out party for the book: on July 27 from 6-8pm we’ll be at Columbia’s fabulous new indie bookstore All Good Books, located in venerable boho enclave Five Points on Harden Street.

Thanks to all for their ongoing support of these literary endeavors here at Mind Harvest Press… there’s much more poetry to come from the proprietor himself, but we’ll hold off on that for now. This is Liz’s well-earned, well-deserved moment in the sun. See you all next Thursday!
